Calculation Method

All inauspicious-period calculations use the classical Vedic formula: daytime (sunrise to sunset) is divided into 8 equal parts, and each part is assigned to a planetary ruler based on the weekday. The exact minutes shown depend on the observer\'s latitude and longitude, which affect the sunrise/sunset times used as anchors.

Hora order follows the Chaldean sequence (Sun → Venus → Mercury → Moon → Saturn → Jupiter → Mars) starting from the weekday ruler at sunrise. Choghadiya uses the same 8-part split but with different labels (Shubh, Labh, Amrit, Char, Udveg, Kaal, Rog, and a repeat) assigned by a per-weekday rotation table.

Ritu, Masam, and Paksha are derived from the moon\'s sidereal longitude (with Lahiri ayanamsa applied) and the sun\'s rashi transitions (Sankrantis). All computations run locally via astronomy-engine — no external API calls.
