Methodology

All astronomical quantities on these pages are computed locally using the open-source astronomy-engine library (MIT license), which implements high-precision algorithms from the Astronomical Almanac — no Swiss Ephemeris data files required.

Sidereal (nirayana) longitudes are derived by applying the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa, which is the official ayanamsa of the Indian government and the most widely used system in Vedic panchang software. The ayanamsa value for 2026 is approximately 24.34° and is interpolated linearly for other years.

Houses use the Whole Sign system (the original Vedic convention): the rashi containing the Ascendant becomes the 1st house, and each subsequent rashi becomes the next house. Navamsa (D9) uses the classical modality-based starting-sign formula.

Ashta Koota Guna Milan uses the standard Mansagari table for Varna, Vashya, Yoni, Gana, and Nadi assignments. Sign-lord friendship follows the classical Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra scheme.
